Kirstin Wingate
MSc RD
I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. I completed my undergraduate degree and Master of Science in Human Nutrition at the University of British Columbia. In 2013 I moved to Ontario for my year long dietetic internship, and was lucky to complete it at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. After that I worked for a year at the Children’s Hospital in London, Ontario, before moving back to BC. Since 2016, I’ve been working as a dietitian at the BC Children’s Hospital.
My current role at BC Children’s Hospital is in the Clinical Teaching Unit working with pediatric inpatients. My areas of expertise include: diet assessments, helping babies and young people with poor growth or poor intake, picky eating, introduction of solids to infants, celiac disease, GI conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, food allergies, tube feeding, and general healthy eating.
I like a little bit of adventure in my life, which has led me to some awesome hiking, biking, skiing and kayaking trips. Recently I’ve taken up 2 new hobbies with my husband Brent: mountain biking and playing the guitar, for which progress is slow but fun.

Fun facts about Kirstin
In September 2019 I travelled to Budapest to attend the International Symposium on Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I was able to meet doctors, nurses and dietitians working around the world with children with inflammatory bowel disease and learn about upcoming directions for research. Best of all I was able to see a little of Budapest while I was there.
