Dr. Peter Louie
MD, FRCP(C), Clinical assistant professor UBC
I grew up in Calgary and completed 3 years of a Biochemistry degree before going to medical school at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. In my third year of medical school, I took 1 year to travel and work in hospitals in Zimbabwe, South Africa and clinics in India. I graduated medical school in 2001 and moved to Vancouver where I completed my Pediatrics residency at BC Children’s Hospital in 2005. During residency, I had the opportunity to return to Africa to work in Uganda.
I am an attending physician at BC Children’s Hospital, BC Women’s Hospital and Canuck Place Hospice. I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC and involved in teaching medical students, residents and fellows. In addition to working with Fairmont Pediatrics, I also work at Canuck Place.
I am fortunate to have a large extended family in Vancouver and Calgary to whom I am very close. I love to travel and am always thinking of the next adventure.

What do you love most about your job?
For our babies and children with chronic medical issues, I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know them and their families and to follow them through the years as they grow up.
