Dr. Chantel de Ruiter
MD, BScn, FRCPC
I was born and raised in the Lower Mainland here in British Columbia. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from UBC- Okanagan (Kelowna) in 2008 and after working in my previous career as a Registered Nurse in Vancouver, I attended medical school at UBC- Vancouver. After graduating with my Medical Doctorate Degree in 2017, I moved to Calgary, Alberta for my Pediatric Residency at Alberta Children’s Hospital. Following the completion of my Residency in 2021, I was eager to move back home to beautiful BC to start my career as a consultant pediatrician.
I work as a locum consultant pediatrician at Fairmont Pediatrics primarily, and hope to explore various locations around the lower mainland and Vancouver Island as my Pediatric career grows. I have multiple areas of special interests within pediatrics including neonatal care, young developing children, as well as working with our unique and fascinating teenagers. I am so thrilled to be in a career in which I can work with various ages and stages of growth and development both in community practice as well as hospital-based medicine.
In my leisure time, I am with my two small fur babies (dogs) and enjoy anything on the water. I like to stay active with my friends and family by kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming. My next goal is to join the power and sail squadron and expand my boating knowledge!
