Dr. Matthew Carwana
I was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. I headed east to complete my undergraduate degree at Queen’s University in Life Sciences and Global Development Studies, followed by medical school at McMaster University. I came home for residency, completing my pediatric training at UBC and BC Children’s Hospital in 2018, including a year as Chief Resident. I am thrilled to be able to continue to live and work in beautiful Vancouver!
consultant pediatrician on the Clinical Teaching Unit, working with the resident and medical student teams to care for inpatients. I provide locum newborn coverage at BC Women’s and Surrey Memorial. I also work two afternoons per month at Sheway on East Hastings. I spend 4-6 weeks per year doing northern locum work in Prince George, BC and Thompson, Manitoba.
Outside of work, I can be found biking around town, on my yoga mat, and hiking or skiing through the mountains. I love a good meal or a great cup of coffee. And I’m always planning my next travel adventure!
